Vancouver, April 1st, 2022 - Today, Pilot’s brand team decided to irrevocably change its brand name from “Pilot” to “Passenger”. This change comes with the intent of repositioning the product to be less helpful to users and more like a Google doc.
The brand name change comes with updates to Pilot’s (now “Passenger’s”) product roadmap as well. The platform will now make demands of users to not only have to do more work to use but also to bring the marketing team food, drink, and those little headphones you get on airplanes.
“We took a good look at our product and said ‘we’re going way too easy on users’ - they want a solution more like Google Docs to create trips, not something simple, easy, and fun like Pilot,” said Founder & CEO Connor Wilson on the change.
“I really liked how ‘Passenger’ is a much more passive name than ‘Pilot’. Passive for us I mean. I really need more of those headphones and mystery meat airplane dinners.” added Marketing Coordinator Yu-Wei Hung.
The product management team at Pilot declined to comment. Later, one of them was seen taking a job at Tesla.
